DEEPAVALI POTLUCK
Auckland Malaysian Society has another great event ‘Deepavali Potluck’ on the 30th October 2011. Everyone was gathering at Mt. Albert War Memorial Hall for this special occasion and celebrating the festival of lights.
The event started off with emcee Patric Seng warm welcoming the participated guests, then everybody just dived in to all the home cooked sumptuous food, traditional Indian desserts and drink; after a good social mingling, we had Edison leading the house to play a funky game called “Autographed Bingo”; it didn’t take long till we have the first person (Willie) who completed the autographs and won the game! Bravo~
Later we had committee Kunas and Patricia sharing their childhood stories about the Deepavali festival. Everyone felt so warm and touching by the stories; then we have Uncle Tong who happened to just visiting Auckland, and willing to give us a speech and threw some of his great Malaysian humours to the crowd. It was fantastic to have Uncle Tong, his new book ‘PS I Laughed You’ is wicked!
Just about 9:30pm, we waived goodbye to all the lovely guests, followed by some quick cleaning. Then we were off home :) … Thanks everybody!
